I am very excited to be writing my first post of my journey of intention for the year ahead. I have been plotting and planning it since I came back from a fabulous trip to India in January and now here I am ready to get going with it.
This year so far has been a bit of a whirlwind, after coming back from 5 weeks in India feeling very Zen I learnt I had lost my part time job which helped to support me whilst running my own business, Create Yourself. It was the best thing that could have happened as it’s very easy to hold on to the security of guaranteed income when you are working for yourself.
As a result of this I have now come up with this exciting idea of my Journey of Intention, I am planning to write part of it whilst travelling around India for 6 months (something that has always been on my wish list to do some day/one day). When I was at school I always wanted to be a journalist because I love writing but I never have the belief in myself that I would be good enough to make it……so I am excited to now find myself writing and doing something else I love, travel.
I have chosen intention because since training to be a life coach 5 years ago and also developing a passion for yoga I have loved the concept of setting your intention. It really gives you a context for how you want to be in any situation. I find it amazing how powerful our minds are and how if you make a consious decision to be a certain way it really does happen like that. I love to set myself challenges and wondered what would happen if I spent a whole year creating my intention every day……I can’t wait to find out!
My first month of intention is to be CREATIVE! I used to love art at school, I wasn’t amazing at it by any means but I just used to love getting in the zone of painting a picture. My favourite painting I ever did was for my art A level, you can see it below……it’s called the “Gateway to the Meaning of Life”:
Since college though I have not done any art, each year I keep meaning to but I get put off by the thought of what to do. I find sitting staring at a blank piece of paper a bit daunting and my mind goes blank. My plan for this month is to draw something everyday, no matter how small just to create a habit of art. I also plan to take a photo every day, visit art galleries to get some inspiration and be creative with anything I am doing. Creativity is not just art, I will be creative with my cooking, what I do with friends, how I dress, creative writing and so on.
I look forward to sharing my journey with you. If you have any ideas for me that are in alignment with my intention please do share, I really do welcome your ideas.
