I thought I may have to give this weeks post a miss after being struck down by some weird illness for the past couple of days. One minute I was fine, feeling full of energy then yesterday morning I woke and every bit of me had no energy to move, I ached and was sick.
Other people on my yoga course have had it too, I am not sure if it’s some kind of food poisoning or just a virus. Or maybe the course is starting to take it’s toll on us 3 weeks in. As much as I am enjoying it I am now looking forward to it being over! Just two weeks to go….. the pace is picking up, we have a week ahead filled with 12 hour days of yoga practice, philosophy lectures and demonstrations, which are where we have to teach a group a series of yoga asanas (postures) whilst the teacher watches. We are also correcting people in the yoga classes if they are out of alignment, hopefully I won’t do any damage!!
Slightly ironic though that I get ill just as I am focusing on being healthy!!! The day before it hit me I had been to a health food shop to stock up on Spirulina with Alma (high in vit C which is the only vitamin Spirulina does not have) and Alfalfa, which lowers cholesterol and balances blood sugar amongst all other goodness. Super food- tastic! Still I got ill though the next day, typical!
I was due to do my Reiki 1 certification course this afternoon and even as I was walking to it I was not sure if I should cancel. Every bit of my body wanted to be horizontal but I didn’t want to miss it! I have been looking forward to it so much. 5 hours later….and I am so so pleased I went along to it. I loved every second of it, my energy is not 100% back but I am feeling a whole lot better than I did this morning, and super excited!
For those who do not know what Reiki is it is a process of healing yourself and others by placing your hands on different energy centres of the body. You act as a channel for the universal life force energy….or if you believe it, as I do, God, to heal where ever it is needed. When we have a pain our hands naturally go to that area and we do a form of Reiki to ourselves without even thinking about it.
The man who was running the course has such an amazing energy and is totally living what he teaches. He also spoke a lot to us about the power of intention which really added to the experience I have had of this journey this year. One valuable lesson to share with you, that I use in my life coaching with clients as well, is to not say “I want X” as saying that you will just be left with the wanting, noticing the lack of what you don’t have. Instead use you imagination to visualize what it will be like once you have it, this will create the feelings in you like you already do. Next write it down like you already have it and this will start to put it into reality. Finally have faith that it will happen when the time is right, be alert for opportunities put in your way to make it happen.
There is a lot more to say about the Reiki but this needs to be a short post as I need to get an early night, before our full on week ahead!
Until next time!
